Using the RVG system, each account can only include one Anaesthesia for ... item which will attract a rebate. Consequently, any other Anaesthesia for … items which you add to the account will have their fee automatically reset to zero. The anaesthesia item with the highest unit value will be used for the fee determination. This differs from the pre-RVG system where the second item was discounted to 20% and subsequent items to 10% of their original value. This multiple anaesthesia rule is performed automatically and the account items will appear as follows.
There is no prolonged anaesthesia rule as there was with the previous rebate system (pre Nov 2001) since the RVG method of time-based items manages this intrinsically.
