Searching for items

To go to a specific item number in the book, type the number into the field labelled Go to on the top right of the window. If you don't know the number, click the drop down arrow and select one of the item categories. You will be taken to the beginning of the specified group.

MBSSearch

If you have either the My Own list or Anaesthetics filters in operation (see above), the item you are looking for may not exist in the subset of items currently displayed. You may need to reset the filter to Entire MBS to find the item.

Alternatively, you can use the Search field to locate a specific string of text. This will restrict the items displayed to only those where the specified text is included in the item description. For example, the text colon will find all items with colon, colonoscopy, colonoscope etc in their description. The above example uses the text EPID to search for all items with epidural in the description. When this type of filtering is active, a button will appear on the top of the form showing e.g. Viewing 10 items. To reset the form to show all the items, click the button, or delete the text from the Search field.

The filtering using the search function works in conjunction with the Entire MBS, My Own List and Anaesthetics filtering. Consequently, the text search function will only search for the specified text in the already filtered list of items. Resetting the search function will see the list revert to the original filtered view.

HintIf you open the MBS book when the cursor is on a particular item on the Items page of the Account details screen, that item will be located automatically when the book opens.
