The IFC field on the Fund page allows you to record the type of Informed financial consent that was discussed with the patient. The options are

N -  Not issued

V -  Verbal

W - Written

S -  Signed

X -   Not obtained

The default for new accounts is X.

For Eclipse agreement claims (IMC-AG) this can be set to V, W or X.

For scheme claims (IMC-SC) this can only be set to W or X. Claims with Verbal IFC are not allowed.

The S flag is for use in Access Anaesthetics only. If you select S, the Eclipse claim will send a W flag.

The IFC Status field is for for your own use and is not sent via Eclipse.

For Medibank Private, initially their software required the W flag to be set for all IMC-SC claims. This was true even for no-gaps claims where there was no patient copayment. So that AA users did not have to arbitrarily select Written, AA version 6.6 automatically sent the W flag in any Eclipse claims, no matter what was selected in the IFC field. In July 2011, Medbank Private corrected this problem and AA versions from 6.7 onwards send the flag as selected on the fund page.
