New BUPA No-gap & Known-gap schedules

Previous topic Next topic

From December 2021, BUPA's state-based fee schedules have been replaced with 2 new schedules as follows.

All states will use the same 2 schedules.
The Known Gap schedule allows charging a patient gap of up to $500 per episode of care.
The No Gap schedule has slightly higher fees, but a patient gap cannot be charged.
Providers must select either No Gap or Known Gap, for each practice location, and register this preference with BUPA.
Changing between the 2 schedules can only be done by notification to BUPA.
BUPA has communicated the changes to providers individually and full details are available here on the BUPA website.

In Access Anaesthetics, your preference for the No or Known Gap schedule can be specified in the Options form.

The default option will automatically be set to Known Gap for all providers.
If you want to use the No Gap schedule, change this in Options > Provider details.
The No/Known Gap option can be set separately for each provider and for each individual provider number.

Using the new schedules from December 2021

AA will automatically choose the correct fee schedule for BUPA accounts based on your preference set above.
There is no need to change the fee schedule in your addresses lookup table from the state-based fee. In fact, the state-based fee should be left set to the state-based fee, for compatibility with procedures performed prior to December 2021.
AA will automatically adjust the fee schedule from state-based, to the no/known gap schedule, and vice versa, depending on the operation date you set in each account.
The fee schedules in AA are labeled BUPA_NG for No Gap and BUPA_KG for Known Gap.
The built-in data checking process in AA will alert you if any inconsistencies in the schedule selected are found.
